I finally managed to bring the all elements of vintage, time and sunlight together for a ickle picture taking session today.
I've been wanting to photograph this little vintage dress for a while now since I bought it in the summer from a charity shop for less than a fiver; in the summer it was too hot to wear and then it was way too tight over the old stomach area....but now, with the threat of snow, it seems like a perfect outfit and I plan to wear it a lot!
Then a little robin flew in to say 'Hello' and to rest it's weary wings and sit on my finger for a short while :)
I absolutely love the detail on this dress, the pleating, the piping and the buttons. I need more dresses like this in my life.

Once more, I've had a pretty hectic week. I'm not sure whether its because Christmas is fast approaching or if my schedule has become more demanding?! But whatever has happened A LOT of wine has been involved. Yes, it was my birthday on Thursday (I was working all day so it was pretty uneventful as far as celebrating goes) and on the Friday my lovely friend Kerry took me on the train to Colchester for clothes/Christmas shopping.......primarily for a dress to go out and celebrate in. I tried on the most incredible maroon coloured velvet dress with 3/4 length sleeves in H&M and it was just - perfect! However, maybe not so perfect for a Saturday night out on the town.......but maybe the sort of 'perfect' for a nice meal or an evening do at a wedding. So instead I purchased two dresses, including this black one. Now, I don't usually wear something so black, plain and erm.......short. I'm a colour crazy sorta gal........but I wanted to try something a little different for me.
Not that you can really tell in these pictures but i'd freshened up my hair with red through from the roots and added a hot pink to the ends ( just for a little funkiness you understand, for the dress- ha!).
So, much wine was consumed; lots of conversation was had about completely interesting, yet irrelevant and possibly pointless subjects and ideas. However, it was lovely to see some of my friends again and catch up........I was very

I watch the skies; I watch the skies often. They (or shall I call they 'it'?) are alive, thriving with the threat of rain, the maker or breaker, the giver or the taker; the skies decide what you do, what you wear and more importantly, how you feel! It breathes so it seems and clouds form, maybe the sun has been puffing on his pipe; a smoke screen for him to hide behind, like he feels disconnected too. The sky resembles a big over-imposing, all soul-consuming multi-storey car park, I watch the skies often: cold, damp and oppressive - like concrete......and in that moment, I am insignificant, small and I am crushed.
In another (moment),when the sun has built his strength, he takes control, exposing his theoretical sledgehammer and creating panic among the clouds. A battle, a fight. Sun wins! Broken, the clouds disperse into smaller, less intrusive pieces so they can float away - defeated. The sun has won his confidence back; I can bask in his happy rays, just for a little while, before he lays down his hat and settles down for the night and the darkness takes over light once more.
